Zimmer successful in Bielefeld, Luxembourgers revive tournament in Saarburg

Colloquially known simply as the “Bundeschampionat,” this competition is nothing less than the German championship for young horses and ponies. Participation is therefore something special.

Luxembourg’s Mandy Zimmer surprisingly qualified for this championship on the weekend of May 10th. She achieved this impressive feat at the “Holtkämper Dressurtage” near Bielefeld (Germany) with the seven-year-old Oldenburg gelding Famous Boy.

Trussardi, also an Oldenburg and grandson of the once famous dressage stallion Totilas, also achieved a score of 68.730 percent for Zimmer in the first Grand Prix appearance of this animal in an S*** test.

Lots going on in Saarburg

Dressage

Last weekend in Saarburg (GER), a seemingly endless number of FLSE riders achieved placings. On Thursday, May 14th, Lea Christian and Decour, for example, finished 8th in a DRW 1 dressage competition and 7th in a DRW 2 test. In the latter, Mia Salgado and La Isla Bonita placed ninth. Ayelaïh Schmitz and Golden Heartbeat finished second in an E-level pony dressage test. Sonja Robert and Brownie de Blanc also finished second in an A* dressage test, while the Schmitz-Golden Heartbeat pair finished fifth in the same competition.

Liv Huynen took first place with Wood Owen in a walk-trot riding competition. In another section of this test, Lynn Majerus and Emma tied for fourth, as did Jamie Joe Kolten with Waterland’s Pretoria and Chloé Losch with the same horse. In the following walk-trot-canter competition, Naylïah Schmitz and Vughterheid’s Symphony tied for first, and Julie Hendel and Daisy tied for third.

On Friday, May 15th, there was a double “Luxembourgish” podium finish: Lea Horsmans finished second in a riding horse test on Amazing Twiggy van Equinox, and Deborah Brüchle came in third on Dileila van Equinox. Sarah Kandel and Jimmy Choo finished second in a Class A dressage horse test. An A** amateur dressage test saw Lea Bogh Jost finish fourth with Fiete and fifth with Limited Edition van Equinox.

The following day, the pair Bogh Jost and Fiete won an A-level dressage test and finished fourth in the same competition on Limited Edition van Equinox. Their clubmate Annemarie Duboutay from RUSt. came in third with Jake Jones. Bogh Jost also impressed in the A* costume dressage test with the two aforementioned horses, securing second and third place respectively. Amélie Decruyenaere Haupert and Dora were on top of a podium, winning an L* dressage test with 67.593 percent. In an M** competition, Laura Wagner and Ulani finished fifth with 65.833 percent. On the final day, Tessy Schiff-Herman and G-Star finished fourth in an L** dressage test.

Jumping

Maxine Soudan and Douamoney Star finished fourth in a style jumping competition over 80 centimeters. In the first section of an amateur style jumping competition at A* level over 0.90 meters, several placings went to riders from the Grand Duchy: Mia Sutor and Qualiska des Marronniers finished fourth, and Sutor also placed fifth with Casscon, ahead of Lilli Pattison and Coolreagh Fiadh. Mich Koedinger and Abby came in ninth.

In another 90cm jumping competition, red, white, and blue once again dominated: Emma Thiel won on Carlotto, Giulia Soanni and Mickey finished sixth, Magali Els and Namika du Lohr came seventh, and Lara Gengler on Limited Edition van Equinox finished eighth. Noemie Goergen reached the podium twice in a 90cm class for young show jumpers in Saarburg: she won on Butterfly de Luxe and took third place with Pep’s de la Rulles. On Friday, Michele Streicher and Bali also placed seventh. Annemarie Hartert (fourth on Esperanza vh Scheefkasteel) and Franco Martinez (eleventh on Coccinella du Gibet) achieved placings in a 1.10m class for young show jumpers. Jenny Schrantz and Checker finished fifth in a one-meter show jumping class, while Luxembourg-licensed Swede Bianca Westlund and Carrie-Lou came in sixth. Grace Baum and Vol de Nuit du Gibet finished sixth in an A** one-meter show jumping class. Van der Weken also finished fifth in a 120-point jumping competition with Dahina de Florianne. The victory in the second section of this course went to Diane Kettmann riding Armiteus. Noemie Goergen finished fourth in this section with Laravola.
