Equine welfare & Health

Promoting Optimal Equine Health and Physical Fitness

The welfare and health of horses are at the heart of everything we do. As the official governing body for equestrian sports in Luxembourg, we are deeply committed to promoting the highest standards of care, well-being, and ethical treatment for all equines involved in our disciplines.

FLSE actively supports responsible horsemanship through education, regulation, and collaboration with professionals across the equine sector. We believe that true sporting excellence starts with respect—for the horse as a partner, athlete, and sentient being. Whether in competition, training, or leisure riding, the well-being of the horse must always come first.

HORSE & HUMAN

A beautiful Partnership

The relationship between horse and human is one of the oldest and most profound partnerships in human history. It is a connection built not on dominance, but on trust, understanding, and mutual respect. We believe that this partnership lies at the heart of everything we do. Whether in competition, training, or everyday care, our shared journey with horses must always be grounded in empathy and responsibility.

Responsible Horsemanship

Built on Trust

FLSE supports responsible horsemanship through clear guidelines, ongoing education, and strong collaboration with equine professionals. Whether in competition, training, or daily management, we advocate for a respectful approach that considers the horse’s physical and psychological well-being at every stage.

Guided by the FEI

FEI equine welfare strategy

Our approach to equine welfare and health is firmly grounded by the mission of the Fédération Équestre Internationale (FEI). Like the FEI, we believe that the welfare of the horse must never be compromised, and that equestrian sport can only thrive when it is built on ethical, sustainable, and horse-centered principles. This includes promoting a harmonious partnership between rider and horse, supporting science-based welfare practices, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement in equine care.
