TREC is a combination of several equestrian disciplines held over three tests on two consecutive days. The content includes the techniques of orienteering riding, a cross-country ride, trail obstacles, as well as dressage and show jumping. All three tests must be completed with the same horse, which is examined by a veterinarian several times during the event. The goal of the competition is to assess and evaluate the harmony between horse and rider while mastering unfamiliar challenges.
TREC is a nationally and internationally recognized competition that originally comes from France, from where it also gets its name. Every four years, a European or World Championship is held. The competition is judged according to the international rules of FITE (Fédération Internationale de Tourisme Équestre).
Luxembourg has an active TREC club that fosters a vibrant community of riders passionate about this discipline. The club organizes regular training sessions, local competitions, and promotes participation in national and international events. Through this active engagement, the club supports the development of rider skills and the deepening of the horse-rider partnership central to TREC.
