Mounted Games is a fast-paced equestrian discipline where riders compete in teams or individually, completing a series of relay-style races and challenges on horseback. The sport focuses on speed, agility, coordination, and teamwork, often involving tasks like picking up objects, weaving through poles, or mounting at a run all while riding at a gallop.
The sport consists of thirty-two different games, all based on a very strict set of rules. This ensures the safety of the riders as well as that of their partners—their horses. In this context, “fair play” and respect for everyone on the field are essential, whether it be fellow players, coaches, judges, or even the equipment. Neither physical nor verbal abuse of any kind is tolerated, especially not towards the ponies.
Even though this is a competitive sport where precision and speed are key, the rider must always maintain a close connection with their pony in order to achieve results. The founder, Norman Patrick, had the vision of using this sport to foster friendships among riders and between different nations.
